Harebrained Schemes is looking for an engineer to join our CoreTech team to develop tools and processes to improve the productivity of artists and animators across the studio.  This could include Unity editor extensions, shader library creation, animation tools, new tech R&D, or just discussions with co-workers to make sure we’re all going in the right direction.

This is an on-site, full-time individual contributor role. 


What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with individual game project teams to support artists and their needs on a technical level.

  • Discuss daily tasking with CoreTech team and help plan long-term strategy.

  • Research and development into upcoming rendering techniques / Unity features / any useful art-related tech.

  • Implement specific tools in the appropriate language.

What You’ll Bring

  • Why contribute to 1 game when you can contribute to all the games?  You’ll work on our CoreTech team to help make artists’ and animators’ jobs easier throughout the studio by developing graphics-related processes and tools to make everyone happier!

  • Experience from a variety of projects - big or small, indie or AAA, PC or console or mobile, licensed or new IP, etc.

  • HLSL / GLSL shader programming

  • C#

  • Shader / render pipeline knowledge

  • Maya / Blender / 3DSMax / any 3D asset creation software experience

  • Experience with rigging and animation processes (not necessarily as an animator / rigger, but comfortable making tools around those processes.)

Nice to Haves

  • Unity experience, including editor extensions

  • Tools development experience

  • Python

  • Performance metrics / profiling

  • Houdini

  • Modern animation techniques, including ML-based and IK
